Sweet words from a MOB

Posted on March 21st, 2012 by Shawna No Comments

Happy Spring to you! As I am sitting in the airport in Columbus, Ohio right now, away for business, it warms my heart to be able to share some very sweet words I received earlier this week from Saturday’s MOB {Mother of the Bride}, Mrs. Lisa Jiles. I had so much fun working with her and her daughter, also a sorority sister of mine, Katie on Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Vinson’s St. Patrick’s Day classic wedding.

ACH Century Of Possibility Luncheon

Posted on March 13th, 2012 by Shawna No Comments

On this BEAUTIFUL spring day here in Arkansas, I had no other option than to share a bright elegant spring luncheon with you today. You guessed it, I am still posting about our part in Arkansas Children’s Hospitals Centennial Celebration for their 100th Birthday on March 5. After the Campaign Kick-off, featured here, a luncheon was held at the Clinton Presidential Center honoring 220 former patients, doctors and generous employees and donors of the hospital.  The venue was a perfect fit for the vision at hand. The silver chandeliers and wall of glass windows overlooking downtown Little Rock were amazing to work with.

Lemons were added in the decor as well as the Centennial Salad which was drizzled with a Lemon-Dill Vinaigrette, and the birthday cake which was a 100th Celebration Dessert of Lemon Cake with Raspberry Jam.

It was a wonderful spring day and the luncheon was enjoyed by all!

Young Designs couldn’t have been more thrilled to plan this Centennial Luncheon. Thanks to everyone at the ACH Foundation team, Landers Vision for audio and staging, Gene Gephardt the backdrop, wonderful centerpieces by Tanarah Luxe Floral, LaTavola Linens, Party Time Rentals for the chairs, and especially all of the event staff and catering department at Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock.

ACH Centennial Celebration

Posted on March 12th, 2012 by Shawna No Comments

A week ago today, Monday, March 5, 2012 was a special day for one of our clients, Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The hospital celebrated their ONE HUNDREDTH Birthday! How great is that?! I like many of you have been a patient there, and if you haven’t been I am sure you know someone who was.  It is such a wonderful gift for Little Rock and Arkansas. So we had to celebrate in a huge way. 10am was the Centennial Celebration and Centennial Campaign Kick-off at ACH Children’s Hall. Here are a few pictures of the celebration.

During the press conference and Centennial Celebration, Sharon Bell announced the hospital’s 160 Million Dollar campaign kick-off and that so far 100 Million has been raised. What a wonderful announcement for the 100th Birthday! During the program, the guests had the treat of hearing from two well known faces around Arkansas.

Governor Mike Beebe

And former Arkansas Governor and United States President Bill Clinton

It was standing room only with close t0 600 people present. What a way to celebrate ACH turning 100 on March 5, 2012!

Young Designs couldn’t have been more thrilled to be a part of it. Thanks to everyone at the ACH Foundation team, Landers Vision for audio and drapes, Mike Nichols, Gene Gephardt for lighting, Community Bakery, Confetti’s Rental, Tanarah Luxe Floral, and all of the volunteers.

Don’t worry, that wasn’t the only event to Celebration the Centennial Birthday, come back for more!

2011 ACH Miracle Ball: details

Posted on March 8th, 2012 by Shawna No Comments

Post two on the Miracle Ball is all about the details. After all, the details are what make your event get the extra “wow” factor and leave a lasting impression on your guests.
This years Miracle Ball kicked off the Centennial Birthday year for Arkansas Children’s Hospital. We enlisted Arkansas’s famous baker, Jennifer Matsubara, from Shelby Lynn’s Cake Shoppe in Springdale, Arkansas to take on the task. She did a fabulous job and this cake is currently on display in the hospital lobby for all of the children to enjoy.

My favorite aspect of this event, was one that I spent the most time on. Bias? Probably so. I just fell in love with the bar.

Vendors: Young Designs, Landers Vision, Mike Nichols with Arkansas Repertory Theater, Drew Holitik for the amazing floral arrangements, Shelby Lynn’s Cake ShoppeIntents and Confetti’s Rental

2011 ACH Miracle Ball

Posted on March 8th, 2012 by Shawna No Comments

December 10, 2011, Arkansas Children’s Hospital hosted their 2011 Arkansas Children’s Hospital Miracle Ball gala. Young Designs was honored to be a part of the planning and designing of the event for several months. It was our second Miracle Ball to work with the ACH Foundation team, specifically Fred Scarborough and Holly Barron. Some of you might remember the 2010 Miracle Ball here.

This years event was like none other, since we were kicking off the Centennial year of the hospital!

It was an evening in Morocco this year, and through all of the vendors,

the guest felt like they entered a different country while enjoying an Arkansas winter night. When guests arrived, they entered the silent auction tent for  bidding and cocktails.

Then entering Children’s Hall on the ACH campus, they experience the transformation of the room. I feel in love with the stage and the bar. Two huge decor focal points that exceeded everyones expectations. The Moroccan rugs, tented bar, and string lights completed the look! Overall a wonderful event and wonderful experience for everyone! Detail of this evening in Morocco are headed your way!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARKANSAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL!!!

New Booking: Jessica and Joshua

Posted on February 17th, 2012 by Shawna No Comments

It’s Friday yall!!

Sit back & relax while I introduce you to another one of our amazing 2012 couples:

Jessica Brents & Joshua Dunham

Jessica and Josh have pulled Young Designs in to coordinate their Fall wedding and we couldn’t be more thrilled to assist them in their day! These two are full of personality, sweet as can be, and a joy to work with! Special thanks to Catherine Buercklin for the lovely photos and Katie Beth Lockhart with Lockhart Photography. I love how the couples styles shines through each and every image.

Words from the Bride-to-Be….

Joshua and I met on the small campus of Lyon College in Batesville, AR. We were only there together for about a semester before I graduated in May 2009, but our story didn’t begin until almost a year later. I was living in Conway but making frequent trips back to Batesville to see close friends and attend sorority events. We have several mutual friends and are both active in the Greek system, with me being a little sister to his fraternity (Tau Kappa Epsilon) and he being a Xi man to my sorority (Alpha Xi Delta). Needless to say, we ran into each other a lot during that year and made plans to attend the same party in early summer of 2010. After that night, the phone calls and messages became longer and more frequent. We made it official on June 19, 2010 and knew in only a few months time that we wanted to spend our lives together. I was so surprised when Joshua proposed on October 18, 2011 on Lyon College’s campus!  We had talked about getting engaged and had recently looked at rings, but never did I think he could pick a ring, ask my parents, and arrange such a sweet engagement in just a few weeks. We are getting married nearly a year later on October 13, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Subiaco, AR. We cannot wait to celebrate with all of our family and friends!

Congratulations again to Jessica and Joshua on their engagement! Thanks for choosing Young Designs, we are honored to call you one of our ‘couples!
